My friend Liberty sent me this video on YouTube. It’s the theme song of Voltes V, my absolute favorite of all Japanese robot cartoons that aired in my youth. I was in early grade school back then.
Brings back memories.
I want to laugh and cry at the same time. Hahaha.

I still know the (supposed) English translation by heart. And apparently this “translation” is completely different from the original…

Now that I look at these lyrics again, it becomes painfully obvious that the person who wrote this English “translation” was not a native English speaker. In fact, I would be willing to bet a dollar that the person was Filipino…

i actually bought the whole thing on video because we never did get to see the end here di ba?

Yeah, so did I!
A year or so back, I got totally obsessed with getting one of those Voltes V robot toys, that used to sell for PHP1,000 when we were kids. Imagine my shock when I saw some being sold on eBay for USD1,000!!!
So I got the next best thing… the entire series on VCD. The seller was in the Philippines, in fact.

Sobra ka naman. It was probably translated by some Japanese who doesn’t know English well…..mas tanga silang mag English as compared to Pinoys naman!
