Because sometimes I like Mondays.
Yesterday, driving to work, I was flipping through radio stations. When I paused at 97.3, I was jolted awake by a familiar voice.
Good Lord in Heaven, Vinnie is back! On the Sarah & Vinnie morning show!
I’m so happy, I could spit.
Over a decade ago, I started listening to their show and became hooked after just a few morning commutes. Sarah & Vinnie have this awesome chemistry. Their je ne sais quois translated over the radio to a hilarious, effortless, addictive banter. But then, six years ago, Vinnie got fired for reasons that were never explained on the air. While their show was the #1 morning show in this market. Listeners speculated. Did they have a fight? Is Vinnie a drug addict? Did he get committed to a mental institution? So Sarah lost her on-air radio banter partner.
The show had never been the same after Vinnie left. They found Sarah a replacement partner, some dude who called himself NoName. He was horrible at first, but the he grew into his role. The best he ever became though was “acceptable”. Try as they might, he and Sarah never could build this magical rapport that S&V had.
And so, the show suffered. It slogged along respectably for six years, although towards the end of that six years, the show lost its number one ranking. I myself had stopped listening on a regular basis. The show just became interminably boring.
But recently, NoName got fired. For reasons that were never explained beyond references to a poor fit with the stations target demographics.
Then yesterday, I veard Vinnie on the radio. When I got to my office, I checked the station’s website. It’s confirmed! The Sarah & Vinnie show is back!

Oh, Happy Day!
